Terms of Service — Dave’s Powder Coating

Size & Weight Limitations

All items must fit within a 14ft (L) × 10ft (W) × 8ft (H) space. Diagonal items may be up to 16ft long. Maximum allowable weight is 360 lbs (163 kg).

Service Options & Lead Times

We offer two service options:

  • Drop-Off Service: Estimated lead time is typically 2–4 weeks, but may vary depending on workload and season.
  • Booked Appointment (3-Day Window): Requires a non-refundable deposit and colour selection at the time of booking. Deposits are accepted by cash or e-transfer only.

Before Dropping Off Your Parts

  • All items must be off the vehicle and fully disassembled.
  • Tires, rubber, plastic, bushings, bearings, and bearing races must be removed. These may be damaged during sandblasting or curing.
  • Provide any special prep instructions in writing (e.g., clearance zones, taping requests).
  • Items must be clean and free of grease. If additional cleaning is required, extra charges may apply or the item may be declined.
  • We do not work with parts that have peeling chrome.

Disclaimer

  • Sandblasting times are estimates. Additional time may be needed for proper preparation.
  • You authorize Dave’s Powder Coating to use professional judgment when preparing items.
  • Due to the porous nature of metal, bubbles may appear during coating. While we take steps to minimize this, we cannot guarantee a flawless finish.
  • If you request a recoat, it will be billed at standard rates and results are not guaranteed to improve.
  • Plastic center caps are not included in wheel quotes unless specified. These may melt or warp and are not covered by warranty.
  • If you supply your own prepped items or decline our sandblasting, no warranty will apply.

Estimated Lead Time

Timeframes are subject to change based on:

  • Colour complexity
  • Equipment maintenance
  • Unforeseen project challenges

No discounts will be offered due to extended lead times.

Completion & Storage

Once your item(s) are complete, we will contact you by phone or email. You then have 7 days to pick them up.

  • On Day 8, a $125 administrative storage fee will apply.
  • Additionally, 1.15% weekly interest (equivalent to ~60% annually) will be added to your balance.
  • After 60 days, items may be sold to recover the amount owing. You will still be responsible for any unpaid balance not covered by the sale.

Colour Selection & Pricing

You may choose from any powder coating supplier, but:

Client-supplied powders must include complete cure schedules and technical details. Incomplete or inaccurate data voids any warranty.

In-stock colours often include:

  • Gloss Black / Semi-Gloss Black / Matte or Satin Black
  • Gloss White / Chrome / Zinc-Rich Epoxy Primer
  • Metallic Silver / Gloss Clear / Flat Clear

Minimum Charges & Shop Rates

  • Sandblasting: 30-minute minimum @ $200/hour + tax
  • Powder Coating: $200 minimum per colour + tax
  • Additional shop work: $150/hour + tax (e.g., cleaning, disassembly)
  • Items should arrive clean enough for a quick wipe with brake cleaner or acetone.
  • Minor disassembly (e.g., removing bolts, caliper pistons) is available, but:
    • We are not responsible for damaged or seized fasteners.
  • Outsourced work: Billed at cost + 10%

Payment Terms

  • All invoices must be paid before or at pickup.
  • Accepted methods: Cash, e-transfer, debit, or credit card
  • After 7 days of completed work:
    • $125 admin fee + 1.15% weekly interest will be applied.
  • After 60 days, items may be sold to recover outstanding amounts. You remain liable for any unpaid balance.

Warranty

We offer a 1-year limited warranty on all coatings we prepare in-house. This covers:

  • Cracking or flaking under normal use

Not covered:

  • Impact damage
  • Improper installation or removal
  • Chemical damage or discoloration
  • Any item that was pre-prepped or plastic center caps

If a warranty claim is approved, we will recoat the item at our facility. We are not responsible for removal, re-installation, or shipping.

Pricing Adjustments

Written estimates are valid for 14 days, assuming item condition and complexity match what was quoted. If hidden damage or complications are found, additional charges may apply.

Storage Policy

Items not picked up within 7 days of completion are subject to:

  • $125/month admin fee
  • 1.15% interest per week (capped at 60% annually)

This includes both completed and incomplete jobs left without clear instructions.
